Norbertines in the USA

While neither of these abbots was elected very recently, within the last year there were two new Premonstratensian (aka Norbertine) abbots elected and blessed in the USA, one in Wisconsin and the other in Pennsylvania.

There is an interesting detail in the arms-RADECKI: in the dexter half, for sure the symbol of the abbey, we see four sheepscissors (I don’t know the english word) and the saltire. They are together the coats of arms of the Lords of Gennep, south from Nijmegen, in Dutch-Limburg. S. Norbertus, the founder of the Norbertines, is the son of Lord Heribert of Gennep. The only question that rises is why the field behind the saltire is not gold, as it was in the coat of arms of the Lords of Gennep and in the later municipality of Gennep.

Up to me the medal in the arms ROSSI is an unheraldic element and diffucult to see.

The shears are from the arms of the house of Gennep. They were not attempting to recreate those arms but allude to them which is probably why the field is argent rather than or.
