      Actually, the rule you refer to is that a color should not be placed on a color or a metal on a metal. Color on metal or metal on color is the acceptable practice. In addition, the so-called “tincture rule” which isn’t really a rule at all but more of a tradition rooted in practicality that should be followed for the sake of clarity, doesn’t apply when charges are depicted “proper” (i.e. colored as they actually are in real life). So, the plant in the second quarter with green leaves and red berries on a blue field is acceptable if it is being depicted as “proper”, although a more creative design would have avoided that.
